After the great gigs at Mainz and Cologne we were looking forward to hear Wallis Bird open air in the castle courtyard of Schloss Herrnsheim. This time I was not too chicken-hearted to take my digital SLR with me. And fortunately it was allowed to come in with a big camera. Therefore I can show you some more pictures and the quality is better, too.
At first the irish musician Fiach played again. We already knew him from the Mainz gig. It was a pleasure to meet him again and to notice that he remembered me and the concert pictures on my web site.
Also Aoife was among the many photographers and video filmers taking pictures of Fiach. Later she had to be on stage for singing and playing, so then she had no more time for photography.
In front of the stage there was something like a fan convention. Several of the concert visitors on these photos are also part of the Wallisworld forum. By the way: One day after this gig I also signed up for this forum and I showed these concert pictures already there.
After a little break Wallis Bird and her band started with their program. As you can see, I was not the only one who made photos...

That's how I like it: A concert with enough light and also with a better camera than I had the last two times. Now these two guys have no chance to avoid getting photographed by me. :-)
The gentlemen at the right side of the stage had very much to do with replacing the torn up guitar strings and to tune the guitars just in time. Maybe it was the open air summer weather in combination with the wild guitar playing of Wallis. But this time it was remarkable how many strings flew apart. Maybe Wallis should switch to piano strings or should play the e-bass in the future. ;-) Because of the low positioned spotlight with changing colors I got the chance for these interesting pictures with wild shadows.
On the stage Wallis started some kind of children's party. She had recognized two sweet little girls in the front rows and asked them to come on stage. A little interview and a shy try of singing together with Wallis followed. As we will see later, the two girls liked it on stage very much.

Here you see one of the rare situations with the whole band playing on one picture. If you are in the first row, it is quite difficult to get them all on one picture. But of course I am not going to grumble about my place in the front row. :-)

Not much impressed of the loud drum beats, the two little girls are listening to Wallis and her band.
But even the greatest concert comes to an end, despite that everyone was waving, clapping hands and shouting for encore (»Zugabe«). It had become dark outside for a longer time, and the flash of the camera could not reach to the last rows of the audience. For bowing and getting much applause the two young ladies came again on stage, because at this nice summer gig they were part of Wallis Bird's band.
